Scholarship Terms & Conditions

The terms and conditions below apply to awards offered to students at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

PAFA Bachelor of Fine Arts

Application

A completed Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Undergraduate Application. Applicants may use our in-house undergraduate application or the Common Application.

Deadline

  • Fall Semester: Undergraduate Scholarship Priority Deadline for the fall start term is February 1. Students must apply by this deadline to be considered for all possible scholarships, notably PAFA’s full-tuition awards. Scholarships, excluding full-tuition, are available on a rolling basis to applicants that apply after February 1.
  • Spring Semester: Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis.

Selection and Eligibility

Scholarships are merit-based and awarded to accepted students following a holistic review of their application and portfolio. First-year (freshman) and transfer students are eligible. Merit scholarship, partially or in full, may be renamed upon donor funding.

Renewal Criteria

Students must meet the renewal criteria for scholarship to be applied:

  • Enroll at PAFA as a full-time student, 12-18 credits per semester. If under full-time status, scholarship will be prorated based on credit load.
  • Achieve and maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA, per year.
  • Recipients may be required to complete an annual acknowledgement if their scholarship is funded by a donor.

How Is Scholarship Applied

  • Scholarship is applied in semester installments until degree requirements are completed, up to eight (8) consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment, so long as the student meets the renewal criteria. If under full-time status, scholarship will be prorated based on credit load.
  • Scholarship will appear as credit on a student’s bursar account or bill.

Appeal Policy

Students that fall below an annual 3.0 cumulative grade point average will be notified that they do not meet the requirements for scholarship renewal. A student may submit an official appeal to the Office of Financial Aid.

Deferral Policy

An accepted student may defer their enrollment for up to 1 academic year, which will guarantee their scholarship for that time frame. A submitted candidate response form and enrollment deposit must be on file by the response deadline for a deferral to be official.

Leave of Absence Policy

Students that take an official leave of absence may re-enroll within two (2) years and have their scholarship reinstated, so long as they meet the renewal criteria. An official leave of absence requires a student to notify and get approval from the College Registrar prior to the start of taking leave from PAFA.

Withdrawal Policy

Students that officially withdraw, or do not complete an official leave of absence, forfeit their enrollment and scholarship. Those desiring to return to PAFA after a withdrawal must complete an undergraduate application to the Office of Admissions for review. Scholarship, if applicable, will be reevaluated in accordance with the current awarding model and is not guaranteed to match any previous award.
