John W. Rhoden

This life-sized, black sculpture is an example of Rhoden’s exploration of large, metal abstraction. Confrontation was exhibited in “An Exhibition of Sculpture by John Rhoden" at University of Pittsburgh Art Gallery, September 11 - October 6, 1971 in the Frick Fine Arts Galleries, catalogue by Vincent A. Struzzi; referenced in Elsen, Patricia and Brawer, Catherine C. 1970 “College Museum Notes” Art Journal Vol. 30, No. 1 (Autumn, 1970), pp. 54-81; was on view at Kenkeleba House (214-16 East 2nd Street, New York, NY) in 2001 according to Modern Art Foundry records.
