Artist Rina Banerjee installs "Take me...," an 18-foot recreation of the Taj Mahal constructed out of pink cellophane.

Rina Banerjee is a voracious gatherer of objects, which she combines into sensuous and surprising artworks that reflect the influences of her childhood in India, her immigration to the UK as a child, and her love of the diverse cultures of her home in the United States. In conversation with Curator of Contemporary Art Jodi Throckmorton, Banerjee discusses her core practices of assembling, sculpting and printing artworks that make visible the transnational movements of people and objects and the accompanying social and economic inequalities that accompany those exchanges. The talk will be followed by a toast to the artist.
