Artist Talk | Didier William and Nestor Armando Gil: Building Community in Diaspora

Drawing on their respective Haitian and Cuban heritages, William and Gil both use mixed media to physically and intellectually “swarm” ideas of colonialism, creating bodies of work that imagine and critique histories of immigration, dislocation, and relocation. In conversation with the curators of SWARM., PAFA’s summer exhibition of their work, the artists will discuss how their respective practices investigate constructed ideas of history, reflect the heritage of the diasporic communities they call home and draw on a multiplicity of artistic practices. The discussion will be followed by a complimentary toast to the artists in PAFA’s Rotunda.
