Shalon Hallager

Shalon Hallager is a doctoral candidate in history at the University of Delaware where she teaches courses in World History, U.S. history, and Western Civilization. She previously received her MA in History from Villanova University and her BA in History from Temple University.

Her Dissertation, “Building Bethel: The Creation of the AME in Philadelphia and Baltimore, 1790-1860” focuses on the development of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and the ways African Americans used their religious identities as Methodists to assert their rights and freedoms within American society. Her areas of interest include African American history, American religious history, women’s history, and 20th century American history.

She teaches courses on World Civilization and 20th Century America in the Liberal Arts program for the BFA at PAFA.
