Through his art, Joshua Koffman upholds the rich and thriving tradition of figurative sculpture. A graduate of PAFA, Koffman trained with several of the institution’s modern-day masters.
He is the recipient of many distinguished awards, including First Place in the Grand Central Academy’s Sculpture Competition, the National Sculpture Society’s Roger T. Williams and Elisabeth Gordon Chandler Prizes and PAFA’s Edmund Stewardson Competition Prize. His work appears in numerous public and private collections and can be seen in Philadelphia’s F.A.N. Gallery. In 2007, he and five colleagues co-founded the Traction Company, a collaborative workspace and art center in West Philadelphia, where Koffman continues to model, cast, and create.
Raised in Southern California, Koffman was captivated by Greek and Renaissance art at an early age. He pursued a formal art education at the University of California, Santa Cruz, earning a BA in fine art.
Koffmann teaches courses in Figure Modeling and Head Structure in the Certificate/BFA program. He also teaches courses in the Continuing Education program.
