Collaborative printmaking and edition printing at PAFA began 20 years ago as an effort to invite artists on our faculty to make a lithograph. This practice eventually became a more formalized and structured printmaking collaboration. Each invited artist was provided the materials and technical information needed to paint or draw on a prepared lithography stone. After the drawing was complete the image was printed for the invited artist who then signed and numbered the edition. The editions are shared between the artist and our printmaking department.
Examples of work from the Faculty Lithography Project is maintained in the printmaking department's archives, and a number of examples were exhibited in a 2012 museum exhibition titled “The Printmaking Department, The Archives Collection.”
