Christopher Saucedo's sculpture and works on paper have been presented in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad, including one-person exhibitions at; The Ormeau Baths Gallery, Belfast, Northern Ireland The Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans; The University of North Carolina at Greensboro; SternStudio Gallery, Vienna, Austria; Arthur Roger Gallery, New Orleans and the Leedy-Voulkos Gallery, Kansas City. His artwork has also been included in many group exhibitions, including recent shows at The Pera Museum, Istanbul, Turkey; Chateau La Napoule, La Napoule, France; The New Orleans Museum of Art, The National September 11thMemorial & Museum, NYC and with upcoming shows at the Dishman Art Museum, Beaumont, Texas and The Proteus Gowanus Gallery, Brooklyn, NY. Saucedo is the recipient of numerous awards including recent grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, The Joan Mitchell Foundation, and the New York Foundation for the Arts.
Saucedo received his BFA from New York's School of Visual Arts, and his MFA from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. After attending the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, he did post-graduate work at the Queens University of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Saucedo retired as Research Professor and Chair of the Department of Fine Arts at the University of New Orleans, where he ran the sculpture program for 20 years. Currently, he is on the faculty at Adelphi University in New York. He continues to live and work in both New Orleans and Rockaway, New York. Saucedo is represented by the Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans.
The student-run Visiting Artist Program brings an outstanding roster of local, national and international artists to PAFA each semester. Through a series of public lectures, critiques, and workshops, the program exposes students and the public to a range of artistic approaches, as well as fostering discussion of contemporary art and ideas.
