Points of View Speaker Series | Alison Saar: Of Robust Constitution

Alison Saar comes to PAFA to speak about how she blends her multiethnic upbringing, multiracial identity and studies of Latin American, Caribbean and African cultures into a body of work that speaks to history, race and mythology in myriad ways. PAFA has collected eight of Saar’s works over the last ten years, including prints and sculptures that explore themes of cultural diaspora, spirituality, the history of race, and the role of the body as a marker of identity.

The Director's Table with Alison Saar

After growing up in a family of artists, Alison Saar has embarked on an astonishing career as an artist, moving freely and seamlessly from the deeply personal to more political work, particularly dealing with the history of race in America. Saar’s ability to make work that speaks to history, race and mythology in a time of political turmoil will provide a starting point for conversation when you take your seat at this Director’s Table event.

"Quentin Morris" Film Screening + Roundtable Discussion with Filmmaker Brice Goldberg and Quentin Morris

This film is a look into the life of Quentin Morris as he reflects on his experience preparing for his first solo exhibition at Blum & Poe gallery in New York City. The screening will be followed by a round table discussion with Quentin Morris, the filmmaker Brice Goldberg, musician Foster Child who provided the soundtrack, and the conversation will be moderated by Morris’ longtime friend and artist, Gerard Brown.

Director’s Tour of Rina Banerjee: Make Me A Summary of the World

Join Brooke Davis Anderson, the Edna S. Tuttleman Director of the Museum, for a last chance, intimate look at PAFA’s major exhibition project this spring. Banerjee’s sculptures, prints and mixed media works are exhibited in conversation with its historic collection of American art, in a project that the Philadelphia Inquirer declared is “the stuff of each day’s headlines” and attendees will hear directly from PAFA’s Director about the insights, contexts and questions that have been most compelling during this contemporary exhibition project.

Celebrate the closing weekend of "Rina Banerjee: Make Me a Summary of the World" with a night of cocktails and musical performances by Humeysha, Anju Madhok, and Lushlife, that will change everything you thought you knew about South Asian music. The festivities will take place amongst Banjeree’s immersive artworks and celebrate the collision of art, culture, and identity.
