Visiting Artists Program | Nakeya Brown

A 2017 Snider Prize award winner, Nakeya Brown has generated a vast body of work that uses photography to explore the complexities of race, beauty politics, and gender. Her work has been featured nationally and internationally at museums and galleries, as well as appeared in New York Magazine, Dazed & Confused, The Fader, TIME, and Vice.

Visiting Artists Program | Adrián Román

Adrián Román's work is informed by issues of race, migration, and identity while exploring both the personal and historical memory of the two disparate worlds he inhabits: the tropical landscape of Puerto Rico and the overpopulated cityscape of New York. His practice combines drawing, painting, and sculpture within immersive installation environments composed of objects collected from different communities, from salvaged wood and window frames to historic artifacts and vintage photographs.

Visiting Artists Program | Meleko Mokgosi

Meleko Mokgosi is an artist who works within an interdisciplinary framework to create large-scale project-based installations. Mokgosi works across history painting, cinematic tropes, psychoanalysis, and post-colonial theory. Mokgosi's artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues including the Botswana National Gallery, The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art Museum, The Studio Museum in Harlem, the Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Culture Center, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and the Lyon Museum of Contemporary Art.

Visiting Artists Program | Mira Schor

Mira Schor is a New York-based artist and writer noted for her advocacy of painting in a post-medium visual culture and for her contributions to feminist art history. Schor's work balances political and theoretical concerns with formalist and material passions. Schor is the author of "Wet: On Painting, Feminism, and Art Culture," in addition to other writing.

Visiting Artists Program | Dr. Leslie King-Hammond

Artist, curator, and scholar Dr. Leslie King-Hammond comes to PAFA as part of the Visiting Art Program (VAP) series. She is the Graduate Dean Emeritus of at the Maryland Institute College of Art, as well as the founding Director of its Center for Race and Culture. King-Hammond has curated several exhibitions and received numerous fellowships and awards throughout her career.

Visiting Artists Program | Lucia Hierro

Lucia Hierro is a Dominican American conceptual artist born and raised in the Washington Heights/Inwood section of New York City, currently working in the Bronx. Her work explores the body as a collection of fragmented signifiers that includes language, taste, and culture. Hierro addresses these ideas across a broad platform of techniques that include digital media, collage, and felt constructions.

Artist Christopher Saucedo's sculpture and works on paper have been presented in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. Saucedo is the recipient of numerous awards including recent grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, The Joan Mitchell Foundation, and the New York Foundation for the Arts.
