Tap into your creative intuition to embrace a more spontaneous way of art-making! Paint to music, draw with crayons, create your own collage papers, and use improvisation and collaboration to stimulate unexpected outcomes. Learn to be present to the process, let go of expectations that inhibit you, and expand your expressive capacity. All techniques are accessible, so participants of all levels of experience can jump right in. Experienced painters will find this a refreshing way to re-energize their art practice. If you have never painted before, this is a great way to start!
Jane Davies is a full-time artist based in Vermont, working in collage, painting, and encaustic. Through her workshops, she helps people find a personal and playful approach to art. Believing that art-making is a journey with very few hand-holds and only a general road map, she encourages each participant to find their own way, while at the same time remaining open to learning from others. She focuses on the back-and-forth play of spontaneity and intention that characterizes the creative process, which paves the way into that precarious I-don’t-know-what-to-do-next zone, where the artist is challenged to forge a personal path. With Davies’ helpful guidance, each artist can discover the satisfaction of making art that is truly their own.
