The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) has a position opening for a Writing Tutor. Reporting to the Dean of Students, this position will tutor individual students to help them become more confident, effective writers. Tutors may help students with such things as—interpreting an assignment, talking through ideas and planning for papers, and improving editing and proofreading skills. On occasion, writing tutors might develop and present group workshops on particular skills or addressing challenges to success, such as information organization and time management.
This position is part-time, 3 hours per week, and is scheduled to run through the end of the academic year in April 2020. This position will pay $35 per hour.
Qualified candidates will have prior experience in a similar role, strong written skills, and the ability to explain concepts; a demonstrated knowledge of English language rhetoric, grammar, and usage; a dynamic and clear verbal expression; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to different learning styles.
