Thank you for your interest in the Pennsylvania Academy. The best way to get to know us, and for our staff and faculty to get to know you, is a personal visit. The amazing facilities here at the Academy are best seen first hand! To accomplish this, we are pleased to announce the continuation of our very successful Academy First Fridays as part of a series of exciting events we have planned for this year. Academy First Fridays as well as our BFA Information Sessions run from 3 - 5 p.m. and are designed to coordinate with Philadelphia's world famous First Fridays, where the numerous Old City galleries, shops, and restaurants, are open late into the evening. Essentially, Academy First Fridays are Information Sessions that begin at 3 p.m. and include a portfolio review (if reserved-see below) a presentation on the programs offered by the Academy, and a tour of our newly renovated facilities here in the Samuel M.V. Hamilton Building and of the historic Cast Hall and studios in our Historic Landmark Building. Our tours include the most famous, and least visited, part of the Pennsylvania Academy—the Cast Hall. All First Fridays are open to all prospective students-Certificate, Penn BFA, Academy BFA (our newest program!), Post Baccalaureate, and MFA. We have also added several special events, like “Behind the Scenes” on May 16, 2008, which includes a special tour of our famous Annual Student Exhibition (ASE) the oldest and one of the largest student exhibitions in the country as well as an information session specifically designed for those interested in the newest program at the Academy, the Academy BFA. The Academy BFA is our first all-Academy undergraduate degree program that has just been approved and will begin classes in the Fall 2008. A third exciting new event is our March 14th painting demonstration by Professor Al Gury, the chair of our painting department. This demonstration will take place in our historic Cast Hall. Remaining events and regular First Fridays for this year include:
