The work is a painting installation composed of acrylic paint on vinyl sheets and requires a dedicated exhibition space. The Academy will mount the installation in the recently renovated Samuel M.V. Hamilton building, the galleries of which are dedicated to the post-World War II areas of the collection. At the Pennsylvania Academy, Braverman, who most recently served as Director of Communications and Legislative Affairs at Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, will oversee a staff of eight and will direct marketing strategies that support the Academy's audience and enrollment development. Braverman will oversee the advertising and public relations initiatives as well as visitor services and retail operations. | April 10, 2006 HISTORICAL PORTRAIT OF KING GEORGE III ON VIEW IN HISTORIC LANDMARK BUILDING PHILADELPHIA – (April 10, 2006) The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts today placed the historical full-length portrait of George III by Scottish artist Sir Allan Ramsay (1713-1784) and Studio on view - after extensive restoration by Chief Conservator Aella Diamantopoulos - in the Washington Foyer of the historic landmark building located at 118 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia. The portrait of the English king, who ruled the country while America strived for independence, is hung adjacent to the Pennsylvania Academy's George Washington (The Lansdowne Portrait) by Gilbert Stuart.
