![]() |
The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is pleased to announce the
recent approval from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National
Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) of our request to
offer the Academy BFA. Applicants to the Academy now have CHOICE. The Academy BFA is the newest member of the Academy family. It is an all-Academy 126-credit degree program where students take both their studio art and liberal art classes here at the Academy. Effective for Fall 2008, we will be rolling out our liberal art classes that will be offered in conjunction with our famous studio program. We see it as the best of both worlds. The Academy BFA will also permit the transfer of liberal arts courses and will offer competitive scholarship support for both artistic and academic merit. Academy students now have the choice of the Academy BFA, the Coordinated BFA program with the University of Pennsylvania, or our historic 4-year Certificate program. To learn more about the Academy BFA or to make the choice that is right for you click here www.pafa.edu/bfa or feel free to contact the Office of Admissions for detailed information about the Academy BFA-- or any of our programs. We will be happy to assist you in selecting the program that is best for you. The Office of Admissions can be reached at admissions@pafa.edu or at 215-972-7625. |

For more than 70 years, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the University of Pennsylvania have cooperatively offered a unique educational combination of nationally renowned studio art training and Ivy League academics.
Academy students can obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Penn through the Coordinated BFA Program. All academic preparation prior to the Academy will be reviewed for admission. Students admitted to the BFA program may begin studies at Penn after completing their first year of study at the Academy. Penn will accept Academy credits to fulfill studio credit requirements for the BFA. For the coordinated BFA, Penn will not accept transfer of credits from another institution.
There are two paths by which students may pursue the Penn BFA:
This self-paced program offers students maximum flexibility in their academic pursuits. Many Academy students complete the BFA in five academic years.
The foundation skills, independence of the private studio
experience and participation in the Annual Student Exhibition helps
students prepare for careers in art. The BFA degree can provide
additional support for careers in museum or gallery operation and arts
administration. Many BFA students go on to graduate school to
obtain a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or complete Art Teacher
Certification programs. |
