As Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations, John B. Knox directs all financial and operational affairs of the Academy. He oversees the institution's strategic financial planning, as well as its relationship with lending institutions and the financial community. Knox works closely with the Academy's Board to ensure sound financial planning, management of funds and operational success.
In addition, Knox directs day-to-day operations such as oversight of the capital improvements currently under way at the Academy's new Samuel M. V. Hamilton Building. Operations under Knox's direction also include facility management, maintenance and housekeeping.
Knox most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of the Volunteers of America Delaware Valley, where he was responsible for all corporate accounting and financial management. Prior to the Volunteers of America Delaware Valley, Knox's service in the non-profit sector included six years as Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration at the Franklin Institute. Prior to that, he was Chief Financial and Business Officer at Craig House, a private school providing educational and mental health services to students. Previous experience extends to government service, including work as Chief Financial Officer of the Township of Lower Merion, Chief Financial Officer of the Municipality of Penn Hills, and positions with the City of Pittsburgh and State of Illinois.
Knox has received professional awards for budget presentation and financial reporting. He received a Master of Public Administration degree in Financial Management from Pennsylvania State University, and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from Bucknell University. |
