Jeffrey Carr, internationally known artist and educator, serves as
Dean of Academic Affairs at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
In this pivotal leadership role, Carr advises the students and faculty
of the nation's first school of fine arts. Professor Carr comes to the
Academy from St. Mary's College of Maryland, where he served as Chair
of the Department of Art & Art History.
As both a teacher and practicing artist, Carr has enjoyed a long
relationship with the art and artists of Philadelphia, most recently as
an exhibitor in the Pennsylvania Academy's "Imaginative Affinities"
(September '02 - January '03). He has also exhibited extensively across
the country, including solo shows in Philadelphia, New York,
Indianapolis, Virginia and Maryland.
Carr taught in Montecastello, Italy, at the International School
of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture in 2002. His career has also
included positions at the Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, the
Hope School of Fine Art at Indiana University, Bloomington; the
Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan, Connecticut and the Pratt
Institute in New York.
