Many fascinating collections - especially works on paper, sketchbooks and historical documents - are too fragile to sustain much contact with human hands, so museums tend to keep them behind glass case "vitrines." Recently, however, PAFA has begun creating digital facsimiles of some of these works, allowing audiences both at home and in the galleries to explore the detail, beauty and depth of these objects more fully.
