Barkley Hendricks: Evolution of the Cool
November 21, 2009
Join PAFA's curators and staff for a one day symposium that brings together experts from the fields of art, music, dance and fashion to discuss the cultural developments that inspired the work of Barkley Hendricks as well as the trajectory of influences that are visible in the present day. With presentations by five experts, two panel discussions and a talk by the artist himself, this symposium will highlight the myriad perspectives on American culture that come together in his portraits and greatly inform our understanding of the paintings currently on view in PAFA's retrospective of his work, The Birth of the Cool.
Free with pre-registration. $10 at the door.
Seating will be limited. For tickets, contact 215-972-2105 or mzimmerman@pafa.org.
