Internships

Interns work with the professional staff of the Academy and participate in the work of a department. They are placed within the Academy based on their interests, educational experience, preferences and availability. Internships at PAFA are always for the benefit of the intern; therefore all interns are required to write a summary paper at the end of the assignment detailing what they have learned during their time here.

Most PAFA internships are unpaid and are available throughout the year.  PAFA students are encouraged to talk with the Career Services Department concerning their interest in internships.  In addition PAFA has collaborated with serve local Universities, including the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Delaware to provide opportunities for specialized fields. 

Paper Lab Intern

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), America’s first art museum and school of fine arts, is seeking a Paper Lab Intern for the Spring and Summer of 2014. Reporting to the Museum Production Assistant, the Paper Lab Intern will gain familiarity with all aspects of the production of exhibition labels, text panels and signage, and gain experience in matting, framing and re-housing works on paper from the collection.  This internship will work closely with the registrars, preparators, curators, and director of exhibitions to learn the specifics of preparing exhibitions and maintaining a collection.

This is an unpaid internship is expected to run for the Spring and Summer of 2014, with a flexible schedule of 8 to 16 hours per week.
